There has been much talk about Baja these past couple years. Even my compadre Anthony Bourdain traveled down south on his last season of No Reservations, and The New Yorker also agrees that Baja is HOT (oh so hot) right now. So with that, It was just a matter of time before Baja hosted it’s own Culinary festival. Spearhead by Chef Javier Plascencia, The second annual Baja California Culinary Fest will kick off on Thursday October 11th and will run through the 14th. The BC Culinary fest will gather Mexico’s largest culinary talent for four days of lavish dinner and Baja wine. Expected attendees include Host Javier Plascencia, Benito Molina, Solange Muris, Diego Hernandez, Edgar Nuñez, Jose Banuel Baños, Fernanda Prado, and many many more.
I am particularly looking forward to pairing the OaxaCalifornia dinner with a nice selection of mezcales coming up to meet me from Oaxaca. It is a true honor being part of this fest among such talent. One of Oaxaca’s best - Doña Ofelia Toledo will be flying in from the Isthmus of Oaxaca and flare up the kitchen with host chef Javier Plascencia and Jose Manuel Baños (another hot Oaxaca import).
Oaxaca + Baja = Oaxacalifornia Love
