NATIONAL MEZCAL DAY?
I never thought in a million years growing up in Oaxaca, that one day Mezcal would be dubbed as “the second coming of agave”, let alone be one of the most sought after spirits for mixologists (and hipsters).
And just as Raul Yrastorza from Las Perlas discusses in this LAist article, “Fortunately and unfortunately for mezcal” it has now acquired a cult following.
Kudos to my girl Krista Siimmons for this interview.  I couldn’t think of anyone else but Raul to talk about Mezcal’s history in LA.  I’ve been a fan of his for years! And even though I can’t really get behind Toby Keith’s mezcal, I can sort of appreciate him bringing a little awareness to the category by announcing a  National Mezcal day (sort of).  I just REALLY hope the man is not drinking Mezcal out of a Red Solo cup!
