I was born in Oaxaca and my love for mezcal began before I was born. Both my grandfather and dad were mezcaleros in their day, my family says I inherited their mezcal gene. I now live in Los Angeles and head operations at Guelaguetza Restaurant, our family restaurant where we are dedicated to the advocacy of Oaxaca's culture in Los Angeles through its art, music and most importantly, food and drinks. This blog is dedicated to Oaxaca, mezcal and everyday LA living

LA’s DAY OF THE DEAD 2012

Dia De Los Muertos has got to be one of my favorite times of year. The smell of copal, marigolds, freshly baked bread, hot chocolate and mole all automatically invade my thoughts and taste buds.

Ask Any Angelino and they would agree with me that no one does Dia De Los Muertos better than the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. This year they celebrate their 13th annual by paying homage to the Aztec Gods and the Mayan Codex (very 2012).

If you haven’t been yet, I strongly urge you get your butt over to Hollywood this weekend for a days celebration of Dia de Muertos. Come hungry and ready to enjoy the best LA’s culture has to offer.

Headlining the main stage this year is non other than LA’s culture mashers, OZOmatli and joining them are my peeps from La Santa Cecila, Las Cafeteras, Very Becareful, and Tribu. Seriously, best line-up EVER!

Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased on-line
